Kenya Lionesses to play at the Africa 7s in Tunisia on Saturday April 29/30 was named on Thursday by head coach Dennis Mwanja in Nairobi as the ladies chase a place at the Rugby World Cup Sevens and Commonwealth games.
Kenya will be captained by Japan based Janet Okello, Christabel Lindo and Grace Okulo in Tunisia.
Other players in the squad include Linet Moraa, Dorcas Sinaida, Stella Wafula, Sophie Ayeta, Terry Ayesa, Naomi Amuguni, Lea Wambui, Judith Auma and Jean Bisela.
It will be Mwanja's first assignment as Kenya Lionesses coach. He's currently the assistant coach at KCB RFC and previously coached Championship side USIU Martials.
"I like the challenge. Having worked with the girls I see the energy they have, the desire they have now converting that into positive impact. Positive outcome is what we are looking at. It's about minimizing the error rate and having the x factor in taking our chances," said Mwanja.
Grace Adhiambo on her side said "Going back to Tunisia chasing the Commonwealth and World Cup is a great honour. It's what we've been working for hardly and the coach has been helping us a lot. It's a great privilege to qualify for the commonwealth games. We've done it before and we can do it again. For the World Cup it will be our first time going to qualify and I know that is what we are going to do."
