Kenya Lionesses head coach Dennis Mwanja on Wednesday named the squad that will compete in the Rugby Africa Cup Eastern Zone 2022 in Uganda.
Peruz Muyuka will captain the squad that will play Uganda and Zambia in Kampala with the aim of qualifying for the 2023 Rugby Africa Cup that will feature winners from other regions.
The Lionesses enter a crucial period where they have a chance to qualify for the new annual global women’s 15s competition that will debut in 2023.
A statement from World Rugby earlier this year said: "World Rugby has announced details of a new annual global women’s 15s competition model and international playing windows that will supercharge the women’s game."
"Underscoring its commitment to increase competition, commercial and fan engagement opportunities while raising competitiveness of the women’s game on the road to an expanded 16-team Rugby World Cup 2025, World Rugby has launched WXV, a three-tiered annual competition model that will start in 2023."
The side is drawn against Zambia and Uganda for the week long round robin competition. The Lionesses will begin their campaign with a clash against Zambia at 4.00pm on Saturday 29 October before playing hosts Uganda at 4.00pm on Wednesday 2 November.
