Kenya Harlequins registered their fifth win in week 9 action of the Kenya Cup, after edging out a buoyant Strathmore Leos 20-6 in a thrilling encounter at RFUEA Grounds.
Visiting Strathmore Leos were first up the scoreboard through Gideon Makumi who drilled in a penalty for a 3-0 lead early in the game, The lead was however short-lived as Quins Ugandan international Aaron Ofoywroth wrote it off with a try with Lyle Asiligwa adding the extras for a 7-3 lead that remained unchanged to the Halftime break.
The hosts were first to earn points in the second half through Lyle Asiligwa after camping at Leos' half for the better part of the opening minutes of the second half, extending the lead to 10-3.
Leos' Gabriel Adero was poised to cut the deficit after a splendid line break but his follow up pass would be intercepted by Quins and the latter would counter and although not landing a try, they were awarded a penalty that was successfully converted for a 13-3 scoreboard read. Kenya International, Isaa Adimo stretcthded Quins' lead further with a converted try towards the end of the game for a 20-6 lead.
Strathmore Leos were forced to play a man less after Wiseman Aganya was sent to the bin. They were awarded a penalty in the dying minutes of the second half, successfully converted by Gideon Makumi ending the game at 20-6.
