Kenya Cup playoffs, relegation: Who needs what?
By Eric Njiru | Thu 04 Apr, 2019 10:00

Champions KCB and hunters Kabras Sugar have already secured Kenya Cup home semifinals but there is still a small matter of who finishes top and could possibly host the final. All will be decided on match day 16 on Sat April 6, 2019.

Kabras, leading with 69 points, need a win over Impala to secure top spot. However, they face an Impala Saracens side that is desperate for a win for them to make playoffs.

KCB can secure top spot if they beat Homeboyz with maximum points and Kabras drop points against Impala. If both Kabras and KCB win, there will be changes on the standings.

Quins are four points above fourth placed Impala and need just a point against Nondies to secure third place and a home quarterfinal. First leg meeting between Nondies and Quins ended 13-22 in favour of Quins.

Impala, Mwamba, Nakuru and Nondies are all capable of making playoffs and can still miss according to how results go on Saturday.

Impala can secure fourth with a win(btw without a bonus) over Kabras and forget any other result. A draw or bonus defeat of two points can see them go through if Nondies don’t beat Quins by more than 65-0 plus Saturday’s points.

Mwamba need a win to finish within playoff positions if Nondies beat Quins. With a defeat to Oilers, Mwamba will still go through even if Nondies lose and pick two losing points against Quins. If Mwamba pick two points at Oilers and Nondies fail to beat Quins with a bonus, the Red Lion will be locked due to goal difference.

Top Fry Nakuru need to win against Machine to but they will be required to do so with a bonus if Nondies were to beat Quins. They will go through without touching a ball if Nondies don't pick any point against Quins.

However, it could all end before 4pm matches if Nondies lose to Kenya Harlequin in the early kick-off at Impala Club.

Who will be relegated alongside Machine?

Blak Bald visit Strathmore Leos in what will be the biggest game of the round. Blad sits 10th with 18 points, four above Leos ahead of the clash that will be hosted by Strathmore.

Any kind of a win, draw or a point(given their goal difference) will be enough for Blak Blad to survive. Leos need a bonus win and deny Blad any point. Leos have -242 GD while Bald have -191.
