Andrew Amonde returns to the Kenya Sevens squad to compete at Sydney 7s next weekend.
Amonde returns after missing Dubai and Cape Town 7s legs with an injury sustained in the local sevens circuit. He has since recovered and started for KCB in the win over Homeboyz in the fifth round of the Kenya Cup.
Joining Amonde for the trip to Australia is Oscar Ouma who will captain the side with Impala’s Sammy Oliech being his assistant.
Willy Ambaka, Dan Sikuta and KCB’s Arthur Owira are other players named.
Jeff Oluoch of Homeboyz, Menengai Oilers duo of Eric Ombasa, Sam Muregi, Nakuru’s Nelson Oyoo and Augustine Lugonzo of Homeboyz make up the squad.
Impala’s Ian Minjire and Herman Humwa of Sportpesa Quins are the non-travelling subs as we understand Humwa is currently doing his exams alongside Frank Wanyama.
Collins Injera and Billy Odhiambo continue to miss through injuries and are joined by Dennis Ombachi and captain Oscar Ayodi.
The team to Sydney and Hamilton 7s legs was to be announced last Wednesday but KRU called off the press conference. This was majorly linked to Sportpesa’s withdrawal as the team’s principal sponsor with KRU chairman Richard Omwela confirming they would be slashing salaries and allowances if they don’t find a new sponsor.
For Sydney 7s, Kenya is in pool B alongside Argentina, France and Wales.
