Kenya's national sides Shujaa and Morans have advanced to the semi final stages of the 2018 Safari Sevens following respective quarter final victories on Sunday, November 11.

In the opening cup quarter final, Shujaa beat Red Wailers 38-7 while Morans were 38-5 winners over Namibia and the two will now face Spain and Samurai respectively.

"They (Spain) are a good side, being in the HSBC World Sevens Series shows the level they are but we are ready to play them. The more games we are playing the better we are becoming," said  Kenya 7s head coach Paul Murunga after the match.

To reach the semis, Shujaa scored six tries and four conversions while Wailers' sole score was Derrick Keyoga's converted effort.

Mark Wandetto's brace and two more tries by Harold Anduvate and Johnstone Olindi, who also converted three tries put Shujaa 26-0 ahead at the break before Cyprian Kuto and Leonard Mugaisi sealed the win with a try each. Olindi missed two kicks at goal but that was hardly enough for Wailers to claw their way back into the contest.

For Morans, skipper Samuel Motari, Timothy Mmasi, Eliakim Kichoi, Vincent Onyala, Ronnie Omondi and Archadius Kwesa scored a try each with Impala Saracens flyhalf Mark Kwemoi adding three conversions.

The other semi finalists, Spain and Samurai were 24-21 and 19-7 winners over Portugal and national sevens circuit(NSC) 2018 overall winners Menengai Cream Homeboyz respectively.
