Kenya 7s on course to qualify for Tokyo 2020

Kenya Lionesses are on course to qualify for Tokyo 2020 Olympic 7s after reaching Africa 7s quarters in Tunisia on Saturday October 12, 2019. 

Kenya 7s won all her three pool matches beating Ghana 36-0, Botswana 49-0 and Senegal 36-0 to top pool A. 

Kenya will now play Zimbabwe in cup quarters on Sunday in Tunisia. If they proceed to semis, Kenya Lionesses will play the winner of Uganda/Tunisia match. Other quarterfinals will see South Africa play Morocco and Madagascar take on Senegal. 

Rivals South Africa saw off Uganda 32-0, Zimbabwe 31-0 and Zambia 36-0 to maintain a 100% record on day one. 

It is to be noted that South Africa will only compete for a chance to qualify for the World Series qualifier event, due to the South African Sports Confederation & Olympic Committee’s internal rules not permitting them to qualify for the Olympic Games directly from the African Regional Qualifier tournament.
