Kenya 7s finish 8th at Hamilton 7s

Kenya 7s have had a better outing at Hamilton 7s finishing eight overall and second in pool B. 

Despite finishing second, Kenya could not proceed to quarters as Hamilton 7s adopted a direct semis format. 

Overall, Kenya sits 10th on 25 points after three rounds. Next up is Sydney 7s in Australia in 6 days. 

This is after beating South Africa 36-14 for the first time since 2015 at Cape Town 7s. 

Willy Ambaka, Geoffrey Okwach, Collins Injera, Jeff Oluoch, Alvin Otieno and Vincent Onyala were on the scoresheet for Shujaa with Johnstone Olindi and Daniel Taabu adding the extras. 

After beating SA they went on to lose 19-17 to Argentina.

Other pool matches were 12-12 draw with Japan and 24-19 defeat to England on Saturday. 

Hosts New Zealand beat France 27-5 to win the Cup.
