Kenya 7s international Jeff Oluoch underwent a wrist surgery on Wednesday at Kijabe Mission Hospital, Rift-Valley Province.

National 7s team physio Lameck Bogonko told Raga House  the surgery was not as a result of immediate injury but “an issue” the Deejay has been carrying for some time.

“We’ve always been waiting to have an off-season, it wasn’t really disturbing him but because of the COVID-19 era where we don’t have games, we saw it fit to have him go for surgery,” said Bogonko.

“The doctor recommended we do it once and for all and we decided to finish it off.”

The Homeboyz RFC back will spend four weeks with a cast on his wrist with the physio expecting him to be ready for rugby by late August.

Organized sport is currently suspended in Kenya to curb the spread of Covid-19 but the national team players have been training on their own using programs sent to each player by strength and conditioning coach Mike Shamiah.

“At the moment we have programsshared out by S&C and depending on the injuries players have had in the past I have given them recommended excerices to deal with them but we are encouraging them not to force anything”.

“Players who need to visit the physio can book individual sessions to come to the clinic and we’ll check them,” added Bogonko.
