Kenya 7s U18 is set to send a 12-man squad to Capricorn Group Sevens Rugby Tournament set for Feb 28, 2020 in Namibia.

Paul Murunga is training the team in Nairobi as he seeks to have a team by then.

“The selection is still ongoing,” said Pau.

“In December we had a camp in Nakuru that was attended by players from Rift Valley, Western and Eastern and we are now picking in Nairobi.”

“The plan after this tournament is to attend more satellite tournaments and have more camps during School holidays.”

KRU director Kelechi Kombo, in-charge of development, hopes to have Under 18, Under 20, Under 16 and Under 15 back in place like it was in the past.

“We are reviving all those programs because they are our feeder system to Kenya Shujaa. We still have Pau contracted with us so he’s taking charge of the team,” he told Raga House.

Among Countries confirmed for Capricorn Group Sevens Rugby Tournament are Australia, South Africa, Botswana and hosts Namibia.

South Africa won the 2019 edition of Capricorn Group Sevens Rugby Tournament beating Germany 29-5 in the final. They won all 6 matches, with 294 points scored and 17 conceded.
