UPDATE: Following an appeal by KCB, the Tournament Committee reviewed all the facts and available documents concerning the team’s position and settled on reinstating them to their original Cup quarterfinal position.
Kenya Cup champions KCB have been docked all points gained at the first day of Kakamega 7s on Saturday.
A statement from KRU on Saturday evening said: "At the end of the first day, Pool C log leaders KCB were docked all their points for fielding an ineligible player in the three matches they played. This saw them drop to the Challenge Trophy with Kabras moving up to the cup quarterfinal."
The said player is not mentioned. KCB handed debuts to new signings Levy Amunga, Shadon Munoko and Johnstone Olindi for the Kakamega 7s duty.
KCB had beaten MMUST 36-0, Kisii RFC 41-0 And Kabras Sugar 29-7 to top pool C with nine points.
The bankers are now relegated to the Challenge trophy where they'll play Kisii RFC while Kabras Sugar, who finished third, take up second position to book Top Fry Nakuru in quarters.
Strathmore will now play MMUST in quarters as a result of the changes.
