KCB big winners at Soya Awards

Kenya Cup champions KCB were on Friday named the men's team of the year at the Soya Awards in Mombasa County.

KCB, who play Western Bulls on matchday 12 of the 2019/20 Kenya Cup on Saturday, beat Kenya Morans basketball team and Kenyan Premier League side Bandari FC to the title.

The bankers had a fantastic 2019 winning the Kenya Cup for a third year in a row beating Kabras Sugar, National sevens circuit beating Mwamba and Homeboyz and Eric Shirley Shield beating Homeboyz II. 

KCB winger Geoffrey Okwach was named the most promising sports personality men after a great year where played for Kenya U20 at the World U20s, Kenya Simbas at Victoria Cup and Kenya 7s at Safari 7s. He'll make World Sevens Series debut at Hamilton 7s on Saturday.

Kenya Lionesses, who sealed Tokyo 2020 Olympics after finishing second at Africa 7s, finished second in the Women Sports team of the year. They lost to Volleyball Queens Malkia Strikers. 

Kakamega High 15s beat Upper Hill 7s to the School team of the year award.
