Jone Kubu produced a man of the match as Kabras Sugar won their second Kenya Cup in history beating Menengai Oilers 34-28 in the final on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at the Bull Ring in Kakamega.
Prior to the win, Kabras had lost the final in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2021. It was Menengai's first time in the final. Oilers had a decent start to the game leading 8-18 at the interval from two tries and booted points by Geoffrey Ominde.
Kubu's try towards the end of the first half ensured Kabras stayed in the game.
With Kubu bringing his kicking game to the second half, hosts Kabras took the lead through Jensen Musoga's try converted by Kubu who also sliced in back-to-back three-pointers.
Ominde would get Oilers back in it after converting Timothy Okwemba's try but Kubu once again restored Kabras Sugar's lead from the tee with two penalties.
