Kabras Sugar head coach Charles Cardoviilis hands debut to up to six players for Saturday’s Kenya Cup opener against Mwamba RFC in Kakamega.
Cardovillis, who will also make his debut since joining from Quins, has named Ugandan Asuman Mugerwa and Joseph Odera at tight and loosehead as former Homeboyz forward Andrew Chogo gets a start.
Last season’s Kenya Harlequin’s top scorer Kevin Keegan starts at 10 as Ugandan international Ivan Kirabo links the forwards and the backs at nine. Aluda Beda has also recovered in time for the Kenya Cup as he is named on the right winger with Felix Ayange being at the back.
For the first time since July 2016, Fabian Olando will start a 15s match after returning during the sevens season. Skipper Max Adaka starts at eight.
To make their debut off the bench will be Coleman Were, Bram Mayaka and Kevin Omiyo.George Nyambua is the only Kenya Simbas players turning up for his club even although it’s from the bench.
“We have prepared well and boys are raring to go. Looking forward to seeing the combinations in play,” says Cardovillis who adds that “Mwamba are a team not to be underestimated. The have a good blend of youth in the squad that's making the trip here.”
