Kabras Sugar fullback Jone Kubu has been ruled out for up to two months after undergoing an operation on his ankle on Sunday September 11, 2016.
Kubu sustained the ankle injury in Nanyuki 7s during their quarterfinal match against Mwamba RFC on a heavy tackle as he made a try that equaled the scores at 12-12 leading to the game being stopped for several minutes.
Time to rest
He was Ambulanced out of the field and taken to Nanyuki Cottage Hospital where he was operated on and released to start his recovery ahead of the busy Kenya Cup season set to start on October 22.
The dependable Fijian who made the Dala Sevens dream team will miss the last leg of the national sevens circuit, Impala floodies and the opening part of the Kenya Cup which the Sugar belt boys will be defending.
“Not a very bad one and no big worries. He will have time to rest before the new season and there is absolutely no reason to panic. We wish him speedy recovery,”said Kabras Sugar team manager Antony Ogot.
Mwamba went ahead to win the tie 24-19 with Kabras Sugar dropping to the Plate where they also lost 24-19 to Strathmore Leos courtesy of a sudden death try by Kenyan international Alex Olaba.
