Kisii RFC have suffered their biggest Kenya Cup defeat in history as they lost 77-0 to Impala Saracens in the fifth round on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Impala Club.
Impala scored 13 tries and made six conversions to seal the win. The defeat means Kisii drop to the relegation zone at position 11.
The defeat came the day Kisii RFC head coach Nick Abok was facing his former side since his appointment.
Impala’s next match is against Quins at RFUEA grounds as Kisii travels to Blak Blad.
Samson Onsomu, Billy Omondi, Timothy Makiya(3), Rainer Omondi, Duncan Ekasi, Ishmael Mokaya(2), Derrick Mayar, Vincent Mose, Samuel Motari and Xavier Bett scored for Impala.
Skipper Samson Onsomu opened the floodgates for Impala after blocking Aggrey Kitoi’s kick before Billy Omondi made it 12-0 after Kitoi’s missed Nato Simiyu’s long kick for Derric Mayar to set up Omondi.
Sensational winger Timothy Makiya registered his first try and Impala’s third after Nato’s pass to Billy who found the former Catholic Monks star.
Impala were at it again scoring through Rainer Omondi with Mose making it 24-0 and when Kisii had a chance to hit back through a penalty, fly-half Israel sent his kick wide.
Makiya would bag his second try but Mose sent the conversion wide before Israel would send another kick wide to deny Kisii points.
Impala scored three tries in quick succession through Duncan Ekasi and Ishamel Mokaya(2) to lead 50-0 at the break.
The Sarries took time to kick-start the second half but Kisii’s resistance was brought to a halt by Derrick Mayar after a beautiful pass from Samson Onsomu.
Makiya would complete his hat-trick after Impala went for a scrum deep in Kisii’s half. Substitutes Samuel Motari and Xavier Bett followed with their tries to make it 77-0.
