Impala Ladies beat Mwamba 15-5 to win their first title in this year's Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) Women’s Festival as the second leg of the five-part event concluded at the KCB Sports Club, Ruaraka, on Sunday 17 February, 2019.
In winning at KCB, Impala Ladies - the 2018 overall winners of the Women’s festival - went one better as they had come second best when the series kicked off with the first leg two weeks back at the Kenyatta University (KU) grounds. They were humbled 12-7 by their Nakuru counterparts.

But it was a different tale this time round as they went all the way for their maiden season title with an unbeaten run.
For a place in the final, both Impala Ladies and Mwamba needed post-game drop goals to prevail.
Mwamba drew Nakuru 0-0 while Impala and Homeboyz drew 5-5 at full time during the semis. Drop goals saw Mwamba triumph 4-3 over Nakuru as Impala ladies beat Menengai Cream Homeboyz 3-2.
It was a second straight time that Homeboyz were denied a place in the final by Impala Ladies as they had went down 12-0 at the same stage during the first leg at KU.
Save for Mwamba who came through as best loser, all the other three semifinalists; Nakuru Ladies, Homeboyz and Impala Ladies were unbeaten in their pool matches.
Homeboyz went on to clinch bronze by taking down Nakuru Ladies 10-0 in the losers’ final. It was a second straight bronze for Homeboyz adding on the one in KU after seeing off Northern Suburbs 22-0.
At the KCB festival, Northern Suburbs and Shamas Rugby Foundation dropped to the ranking semifinal after beating Kisumu Rugby 10-0 and Comras 41-0, correspondingly.
They went on to finish fifth after beating Shamas Rugby Foundation 14-5. The latter finished sixth. Kisumu concluded the festival in seventh place when they saw off Comras 7-0.
In winning at KCB, Champions Impala Ladies shot to the top of the nine-team standings. Mwamba who finished fifth in the first leg are now up fourth as back-to-back bronze winners Homeboyz stays third. Early table toppers Nakuru Ladies are now down to second
Northern Suburbs, Shamas Rugby Foundation, Kisumu and Comras maintained the same positions at KCB in the overall standings as Blakblades ended up ninth.
The festival will now take a weekend's break before returning for the third leg at the RFUEA Grounds off Ng'ong road on Sunday 3 March, 2019.
The final two legs will be held at the Impala Club and NAC, Nakuru on 17 and 31 March, 2019, respectively.
