The International Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS) Kenya 7s U13 sevens team will compete in group E of the 2020 Rosslyn Park National Schools 7s set for March 27 in England.
IAPS Kenya 7s Under 13, who kicked off training last month, will play English quartet of All Hallows School, Caldicott Preparatory, Terrington Hall School and Worth School.
Haverfordwest High from Wales is the sixth team in the pool. There are up to 10 groups of six schools each.
Kenya 7s Under 13 IAPS squad finished third in 2019. They won three matches and lost two to finish third in the group with nine points. They beat Llandovery College 55-5, Cheltenham College Preparatory School 40-5 and The Downs School 50-10.
The tournament, commonly known as Rosslyn Park Rugby Sevens due to its association with local rugby club, Rosslyn Park F.C involves around 7000 boys and girls aged 13-19 who compete in over 1100 matches annually according to Wikipedia.
Originally a tournament played amongst English public schools, the tournament has evolved and expanded to accommodate teams from different parts of the world, the IAPS-Kenya team now attending their eighth edition of the tournament.
The team selectors Kenny Andola, Jim Ross and Joe Morgan came up with a squad of twelve players from six different schools to take part in the preparatory schools tournament in 2019.
