Homeboyz Ladies won the third leg of the Women Rugby festival held at the RFUEA grounds on Sunday 3 March, 2019 after seeing off their Nakuru counterparts 15-5 in the final.
It was a reversal of tides as earlier on during the group stages Nakuru had taken down Homeboyz 19-7.
In winning at Ngong road, Homeboyz Ladies became the third winner in the five-part series after Nakuru Ladies and Impala Ladies who won the first two legs at Kenyatta University and KCB grounds, respectively. In the first two legs Homeboyz had to contend with bronze on each occasion.
In the final on Sunday against Nakuru, Homeboyz led 10-0 at half time thanks to a Dorcas Mokaya brace of tries. She added one more in the next half to complete her hat trick. Veronica Wanjiru grabbed the consolation for Nakuru to add respectability to the score line.
For a place in the final, Homeboyz beat Northern Suburbs 10-0 in the semis as Nakuru narrowly edged out Impala 5-0. The latter went on to beat Northern Suburbs 10-0 to take home Bronze in the losers final.
Mwamba, runners-up during the second leg at KCB, beat Shamas 12-0 to be ranked fifth as Kisumu Dolphins beat Comras to be ranked seventh. Bladbabes took the wooden spoon.
The final two legs of the festival will be held at the Impala Club and NAC, Nakuru on 17 and 31 March, 2019, respectively.
