Reports in the UK indicate that Olympic Sevens winner and double World Sevens series champion Ben Ryan is being lined up for a role in the France Sevens team.
The Daily Telegraph reports that Ryan is poised to be brought into the French sevens set-up to sparkle some of his gold-dust on Les Bleus ahead of the Sevens World Cup in San Francisco next year. Players have already been informed of his appointment, which is expected to be made public later this month.
After walking away from the Fiji role that he had held for three years, Ryan initially wanted to head back to XVs. Out of the blue, an offer came from Edinburgh to replace Alan Solomons, which fulfilled nearly all of the criteria he was looking for in a XVs project.
France finished at position 11 with 63 points with their peak performance coming from Dubai, Wellington and Paris legs where they picked 10 points.
Frederic Pomarel is the current France 7s coach.
