Four clubs that had applied for the Kenya Rugby Union affiliation will have to wait a little longer as the 2018 Annual General Meeting(AGM) did not consider them.
Championship side Ngong RFC and nationwide sides Northern Suburbs Cubs, Nanyuki Jackals and Nakuru Kiti will remain as KRU associates as per the Wednesday’s AGM.
The AGM agreed that the four sides must comply with the 2013 Sports Act and submit audited accounts to KRU after which they will automatically get affiliation.
According to KRU constitution clause ?8.2.2, an Associate Member shall enjoy all the rights and privileges of a Member, subject to the express stipulations that it may not submit a motion to the Union, it may not second a motion submitted to the Union, and it shall not have a vote at any meeting of the Union, but it shall be entitled to speak at any meeting of the Union.
A full member, according to ?8.1.1, shall be entitled to vote at the Annual General Meeting.
Sports registrar Rose Wasike attended the Kenya Rugby Union AGM where she said only five rugby clubs in Kenya had complied with the 2013 act asking the rest to do so as quickly as possible.
