The Fiji Rugby Union has confirmed that Amenoni Nasilasila has been suspended from training and also playing for the Men’s National 7s team.
Nasilasila is charged with one count of rape. He has also been issued an interim Domestic Violence Restraining Order.
Nasilasila is alleged to have raped a 24 year old woman in Olosara, Sigatoka on the 22nd last month.
Fiji Rugby Union Chief Executive John O’Connor says Nasilasila will not be part of the training squad and will not travel with the squad in any 7s tournament at this moment.
Meanwhile, physical conditioning will be a priority for the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team when they return to camp to continue preparations for the Hamilton 7s.
Coach Gareth Baber says the players have returned with positive mind sets from the holiday.
Baber says the team will continue to work on areas including restarts, momentum, shape and focus.
The 19 member squad will continue training in Suva and are expected to have their last run for this week’s session on Friday at the Sigatoka Sand dunes.
Fiji is pooled with Australia, Wales and Spain in the Hamilton 7s which will be held on the 26th and the 27th of this month.
