ESS sides set for Mwamba Cup, draw released

The Kenya Rugby Union has released the draw for the 2018 Mwamba Cup to kick off on Saturday, April 14 with the pre-quarters stage.

Unlike in 2017 where the Mwamba Cup was for Championship sides, the 2018 edition will be played by the Eric Shirley Shield sides as Championship league is still ongoing.

The first pre-quarterfinal will be at Railways club between Mwamba II and relegated side Mombasa II while Nondies II will host Quins II.

Kisii II will be home to Impala II as Kabras Sugar II travels to Kenyatta University to take on Blak Blad II.

The quarterfinals will follow a week later; KCB II, Strathmore II, Homeboyz II and Nakuru II all receive byes for reaching last year’s semis.

KCB II will play the winner of Mwamba II- Mombasa II, Strathmore host the winner of Nonides II-Quins II, Homeboyz II play the winner of Kisii II-Impala II while the winner of Blad II-Kabras II will head to Nakuru II.

Mwamba Cup semis are set for Saturday, April 28 with final going down on Saturday, May 5 at RFUEA grounds.
