Rift Valley based Egerton Wasps earned promotion to the Championship after beating MKU Nairobi 30-10 in the Nationwide semis on Saturday May 6, 2017 in Njoro.

The Wasps will face off with Menengai Oilers in the Nationwide final in an all-Rift Valley duel, a tie that will be a repeat of the regional final. Wasps lost that final 47-10 on 1 April.

MKU Nairobi on their side still have a chance to qualify for the Championship as they will go to playoffs with JKUAT Cougars or Thika RFC after the two finished at position 10 and nine in the Championship.

For a place in the semis Egerton got the better of CITAM Kisumu 16-8 at the  Maseno University  grounds as MKU Nairobi narrowly edged out TUM Marines from Mombasa 13-10.
