The national sevens circuit is up and running with four matches already played at the Driftwood 7s on Saturday September 2, 2017.

Mwamba RFC came from behind to force a 17-17 draw in their first match against high-flying new Kenya Cup side Kisii RFC.

Kisii ran in three tries and one conversion against Mwamba’s two converted tries and one unconverted touchdown. Kisii led 10-7 at the interval.

Ian Amara and Lawrence Otieno scored for Kisii with the latter bagging a double while Mike Agevi, Steve Sikuta and Alex Aturo scored for Mwamba.

Mwamba had a chance to win the game as Aturo scored the equalizing try but Matt Wanjia sent his kick wide.

"I think it was a good show from the boys have not lost. In this game you realise our tackling was not good and so we are going to work on it. We realised with the ball in hand we can execute and that’s what we going to do only now to work on the mistakes especially on those defensive lapses," said Kisii RFC coach Eric Bosire.

Mwamba's next game is against Menengai Oilers at 1.18pm while Kisii will be taking on Kenya Harlequins at 1pm.
