The final of the second tier elite schools competition between Dagoretti High and Thika High School will act at the curtain raiser for the Kenya - Zimbabwe Gold Cup clash at the RFUEA grounds on Saturday 30 June starting 11.30am.
The Damu Pevu final replaces a Prescott Cup final between champions Upper Hill and the Rift Valley Academy (RVA) from Kijabe that, for varied reasons, has had to be played on Friday.
Stakes are high in the final as the winning side will be promoted to the 2019 Prescott Cup to replace the loser between St. Mary's and Strathmore - schools that propped their respective Prescott cup pools - after a playoff.
For a place in the final Dagoretti High clawed Sunshine Secondary 41-0 while Thika High received a walkover from Jamhuri High. For Thika it will be a second stab at Prescott Cup promotion having missed out in 2016 after going down to host Nairobi School 37-0.
"We are looking forward to the game as a win will lead us to Prescott Cup next year. We are anxious and looking forward to it." said Dagoretti coach Victor Walge who led Upper Hill to their first ever Prescott Cup title in 2016 and retention of the same in 2017.
Laiser Hill, Langata seek Damu Pevu II title
Out at Lenana School, former Prescott Cup champions Laiser Hill will hope to scale upwards and feature in Damu Pevu next season when they host Langata High in the final of the newly introduced Damu Pevu II starting 10am.
To book the final Laiser Hill hammered Kuhuho Uhuru 60-0 as Langata took down Orbit School 42-7.
