Dagoretti High School are the new champions of Nairobi region after beating Upper Hill 11-8 last weekend at St.Mary's School.
As Dagoretti takes control of Nairobi, there will also be a new champion in the Country and East Africa as Upper Hill won all three titles in 2018. Mombasa will host the nationals in April.
It was a sweet revenge for Dagoretti since Upper Hill eliminated them from 2018 title contention in cup semis. Mubarak Wandera touched down in the seventh minute for Upper Hill before Lucas Aluso cancelled it out to settle for a 5-5 tie at the break.
Boniventure Opande's penalty early in the second half took Upper to 8-5 but a determined Dago fought back to win three points through Timothy Lugalia.
Lugalia would become a hero as he sent in a drop-goal in extra time after the sides settled for 8-8 in regular time.
Dagoretti is coached by Victor Walgwe while his brother, Tom Walgwe, coaches Upper Hill. Dago will now represent Nairobi region in next month's nationals in Mombasa.
In Rift-Valley, Kabianga will head to the nationals having beaten St.Patrick Iten 14-12 in the final on Friday. In the 7s category, national champions Laiser Hill Academy are on their way to defend the title after beating Menengai High 19-17 at Singore Girls.
