Confusion mars Prescott Cup semi

A second Prescott Cup semifinal between back-to-back champions Upper Hill School and Muhuri Muchiri failed to kick off on Thursday 28 June as planned following confusion of who had the right to host the game.

From what sounded more of a miscommunication, either school presumed they were to host the game and while Muhuri Muchiri waited for their opponents, Upper Hill availed themselves at St. Mary’s – their borrowed home ground - ready for the game.

For a place in the semis, Upper Hill came through courtesy of a walkover from a no-show Lenana School on Monday as Muhuri Muchiri dispatched Alliance High 10-08 in Kikuyu on Tuesday.

According to a member of the Prescott organizing committee, Muhuri Muchiri won the right to host the game following their Alliance win due to their +2 point difference that was considered superior to the walkover issued.

The same application was used to pick Ofafa Jericho as host of RVA on Tuesday much to the chagrin of the Kijabe boys.

RVA saw off Nairobi School 30-7 (+23) in their quarterfinal game as Ofafa Jericho took out Mangu High 29-3 (+26) in their last eight tie. Both RVA and Upper Hill School argued they should have hosted the semis by virtue of winning their respective pools.

The most recent matter now squarely rest with the committee to provide a resolve.

The winner of the pending tie will face Rift Valley Academy (RVA) who knocked out host Ofafa Jericho 13-7 on Tuesday to return for a second straight final set for Saturday 30 June at RFUEA starting 11am.
