Plans for second edition of Embu 7s are in top gear as up to 16 teams are set to head to Embu town in Embu County on Saturday July 1, 2017 for the two day event.

Embu RFC chairman Moses Mukabane says more teams are still welcome for registration with schools rugby set to take place at Kangaru High School on Saturday.

Samurai Select, Kenya Cup sides Nondescripts, Strathmore Leos, Chuka Vikings, Catholic Monks and Kiambu RFC are some of the teams that have confirmed their attendance as hosts Embu RFC will announce prize money over the course of the week.

“We will have a launch this week where we will also do the pools after all confirmations have been done. We are looking forward to hosting a very competitive and successful sevens tournament,” said Mukabane.

Mean Machine won the first edition held in 2014 but the 2017’s edition is expected to be even more competitive as teams are kick-starting preparations for 2017 national sevens circuit that will start in July 2017, as per KRU dates released earlier in the year.

Pooling for Embu 7s will be done on Wednesday in Embu. Kangaru School will take on Kevote Boys, Nyeri High, Chogoria Boys, Kamama, Nyangwa Boys and Meru School in their one-day affair.
