Mean Machine reached their second cup quarterfinal in the 2018 national sevens circuit despite winning only one pool match on Saturday.
Machine beat Narvskaya Zastava 42-12 after losing 12-10 to Kabras and 31-12 to Mwamba. The University of Nairobi side will play series leaders Homeboyz in quarters at 11am on Sunday at RFUEA Grounds.
Homeboy beat South African side Blue Bulls and TUK 26-7, Menengai Oilers 21-0 and Nakuru 43-12.
Mwamba are in contention for the national title after topping pool A and will play Blue Bulls TUKs in the first quarterfinal at 10.20am. Hosts Kenya Harlequin have KCB at 10.40am while Strathmore Leos, who played in the second division at Dala 7s, will play Emerging Uganda at 11.20am.
Five Kenya Cup sides dropped to Challenge Trophy quarters and are at a risk of relegation on the final day of the season. Kabras Sugar, Menengai Oilers, Nondies, Nakuru RFC and Impala Saracens are all in trophy quarters.
Kabras will play Oilers in the first challenge trophy quarters, Nondies are up against Suburbs at 9.20am, Nakuru RFC will play Narvskaya Zastava at 9.40am while Resolution Impala Saracens will take on Resolution Kisii RFC at 10am.
