Catholic Monks leave Diani with a smile after picking a 19-17 close win over hosts South Coast Pirates in the first round of 2018/19 Championship on Saturday Nov 17.

Max Omondi’s two tries and Wilson Saidi’s crossover as well as two conversions by Johnstone Waiganjo ensured Monks return to Nairobi with four points.

The home side was able to pick a losing point as Simon Saha, Jacob Dera and Jospeh Kariuki’s try saw them having something to stay in the game.

Pirates head to USIU on matchday two as Catholic welcomes Mombasa RFC.

USIU were in Nakuru to play Egerton Wasps and they picked a 6-15 win over the home side. Brian Ndege scored both Egerton’s penalties in the defeat.

As USIU welcomes Pirates next week, Egerton head to Ngong RFC.
