Mean Machine may miss a direct(home) semifinal in the KRU Championship after new standings released by Kenya Rugby Union put them at third place.
Machine have 60 points staying third and head to Menengai Oilers this weekend for the final round of the 2017/18 Championship. The standings released on Monday saw Machine deducted two points for handing a walkover to Western Bulls for a match they didn't travel.
Head coach Philem Kidakwa told Raga House he does not understand where their two points went as they thought they had 62 points and not 60.
Machine's deduction comes with another blow as their opponents, Bulls, are obviously handed five points which sees them rise to second with 62 points.
Oilers lead with 69 points and are assured for a home semifinal even if they lose to Machine.
Machine can only make the direct semis if they beat Oilers and hope Bulls lose to JKUAT Cougars who have already been relegated.
Two Championship finalists will be promoted to the 2018/19 Kenya Cup.
Kisumu RFC, Catholic Monks and USIU occupy positions four to six with 39, 36 and 34 points respectively also assured of a quarterfinal as seventh placed Egerton Wasps(25 points) cannot make it.
Relegation battle continues till the last day as Moi University will be looking to secure playoffs, they lie 11th with 17 points as Ngong is 10th with 20 points Moi head to Catholic University as Ngong travel to UoE.
Egerton Wasps and South Coast Pirates are not yet assured of safety as wins for either UoE or Ngong RFC will see them drop to relegation playoff positions may them lose their matches.
Bottom two teams will be relegated back to their nationwide leagues while positions 9 and 10 will head to relegation playoffs with nationwide losing semifinalists.
