Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad has named a 12-man squad that will do duty in the final round of the Kings of Rugby on Saturday, October 7, 2017, in Maseno.
The Kenya Cup side has a strong squad that has been competing at the National Sevens Circuit.
Wesley Kidinga, Mark Ongayo, Ian Obukwa, Stormy Odhiambo, Franz Obudo and Ivan Chebo make the squad as well as fly-half Levy Amunga and scrum-half Moses Begi.
Scrum-half Brian Wahinya is the only regular missing from the Maseno bound squad as Steven Odhiambo says Mean Machine’s withdrawal makes the final leg less competitive.
“The tournament won't be as competitive as it would have been with Machine not participating considering the fact that they are worthy contenders for the Cup.”
“The side has shown a lot of potential as they were the winners of the UON leg and also registered quality performance in the ongoing national circuit.”
“However, there will be stiff competition from teams such as USIU who won two legs of the KUSA circuit and University of Jo' burg who won the last Kings of Rrugby last year and not forgetting MKU who is also a good side in the university sides.”
Blad is in pool C with Championship side UoE, coast outfit TUM Marines and host Maseno Nomads. They kick-off against Maseno before playing TUM and UoE.
