Head Coach Paul Odera has made eight changes to the Simbas squad that suffered the 13-16 loss to Uganda in the first leg of the Elgon Cup.
The Squad will miss four Kabras players who featured in the first leg as they are away sharpening their skills in South Africa while five #Chipu players who were part of the delegation are away to Brazil on international duty.
Odera has recalled Andrew Amonde into the squad; Jacob Ojee will make his first appearance for the Simbas this year on 13th July at the Kyadondo Rugby Club since the conclusion of the HSBC.
“Andrew will add some power into the backrow as he also gates the powerful runners that Uganda had, Curtis Lilako will come off the bench at tighthead while Jacob Ojee’s pace and experience will be very invaluable to the team.
We’ve also included Melvin Thairu in the squad who is a very good ball carrier as well as Fidel Oloo. “ said Odera.
The inclusion of the senior players brings in the much needed experience on the pitch and it will be important in decision making as well.
In his absence, the Backs Coach Albertus Van Buuren will take charge of the team assisted by the Director of Rugby and Former Kenya Simbas Coach, Thomas Odundo. Fahad Adil takes up the Team Manager role as Jimmy Mnene will also be away with Chipu in Brazil.
