The Alliance High School put a claim on the 2015 Prescott Cup after seeing off Upper Hill School 18-14 in the final played at the St. Mary’s School on Saturday 27 June.

The win for Busherians was the first since beating the Rift Valley Academy to the 2013 trophy.

Jabir Lunalo

A drop goal by Herbert Mowo gave the scholars a 3-0 lead, but a try from Ben Marshall and an ensuing extra by Meshack Mutende sent Upper Hill 7-3 ahead. After, a Sam Maina unconverted touchdown sent Bush 08-07 ahead going to the break.

A Jeff Kiruki try in the second half, followed by a conversion by Jabir Lunalo put Alliance ahead 15-07. Upper Hill responded with similar points - a touchdown from Victor Rogema and conversion from Mutende to move to within a point of Alliance; 15-14.

However, a penalty from Lunalo closed the scores at 18-14 for Alliance to lift their third Prescott Cup crown.

For a place in the final beat a tough RVA 21-12 in the semis played on Wednesday as Alliance went past Strathmore School 08-03 the day after.

Alliance first won the Prescott Cup after beating Lenana School in the 2003 final. For Upper Hill School on the other hand it was two-times unlucky as they were making only their second appearance in the final since falling to Mang’u High in 2012.
